Press Biography
A native of Georgia, Daniel Cowan moved from Savannah to Atlanta in 1989 to pursue his artistic career. Working under the name Dan Random, he is a musician, singer, composer, producer, and author with ten studio albums and three Grammy Award nominations.
His professional moniker reflects his ability to compress several styles of music into a common thread that remains distinctive and entertaining. Across nearly one hundred original compositions, Dan's work has moved through alternative rock, singer-songwriter, and roots-influenced territory without settling into a single lane.
His debut science fiction novel, Somewhere Called Now, extends that same creative idea into publishing. The story follows four Savannah college students who stumble onto a time machine, with original songs placed throughout the reading experience. The novel and soundtrack are designed as the first chapter of a larger series weaving words and music together.
Dan's latest album, Still, was released in 2025 and includes twelve songs such as “Sunny Sunday,” “Louisiana Skip,” and “Butter Bean Beach.”
